About Your Professional Development
Every teacher needs to have an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) on file with the Amherst LPDC. Your IPDP and goals drive your professional development for the five years of your current license. You need to develop a new IPDP and goals whenever you renew your license (every five years) or shift the focus of your professional development.
All coursework, activities, and CEUs must be aligned to the goals on your current IPDP or the activities will not be approved by the LPDC. The required amount of professional development for renewal:
- Six semester hours of coursework related to classroom teaching and/or the area of licensure; or
- 180 contact hours (or 18 CEUs) in workshops or equivalent activities related to their IPDP goals as approved by their Local Professional Development Committee. (Coursework, workshops, or other equivalent activities may be combined.)
